RVing Tips
Ready for a vacation you will remember for a lifetime? Before you head to one of our RV resorts, make sure to prepare for your camping trip. Below are some handy tips and techniques that will help make your RV vacation even better! Now hop in your RV and get moving!
Safety First!
Before you head out on the road, use the following as a checklist to ensure your RV is in working order and you have the proper safety equipment on hand.
- Check your tires! No one enjoys getting a flat tire, especially on a road trip! Know the pressure your tires should be at and use a tire gauge to make sure it is in line. Check this regularly to ensure your tires are not leaking. This will avoid blow outs and tire damage and optimize gas mileage!
- Have a fire extinguisher and smoke detector on your RV. Investing in a carbon monoxide detector is also recommended.
- Keep a first aid kit on hand. This is essential for everything from skinned knees to larger, more severe cuts, burns or other injury.
- Change the oil in the generator before making your journey to one of our RV resorts.
Vacation in Comfort!
Make your RV feel like your home away from home with these easy tips!
- Hate that musty smell? Keep you RV smelling as fresh as the outdoors that surround you by placing fabric softener sheets in your closets and drawers.
- To keep your mobile home cooler on a hot summer night, look for shaded sites at the RV resort. Have an awning? Keeping it open will also cool your motor home down.
- To keep your supplies and toiletries from sliding around, use Velcro tape to keep your belongings where you want them.
- Always have quarters on hand – they can be used for metered parking, coin laundry facilities at RV resorts, and tolls.
Keep Creepy Crawlers at Bay!
Sure, you want to enjoy the outdoors, but who wants bugs ruining your fun? Try these techniques to keep your RV bug-free!
- To keep bees from nesting, use some screen-wire in the rubber bumper plugs.
- Place moth balls under the bays of your tires and near the propane lines of the water heater and refrigerator to deter ants and spiders from entering your RV. But unless you love the smell of mothballs, use them sparingly!
